UFOs.. Could 'aliens' really be interested in us?

Please read it all or don't bother replying, the 'good' stuff appears later in the text, so please read it all and give your opinion! :)

I know UFO's stand for Unidentified Flying Object.. But, could 'aliens' (I use the term loosely), really be 'visiting' us? To civilizations out there, who could actually visit us, we are merely the equivalent of ants to them. However, what would make us "interesting" is the fact that we're a youthful civilization. We're only JUST reaching the era of the possibility of intergalactic space travel. According to Michio Kaku (amazing physicist), this is the time frame that will either 'make' or 'break' us in regards to our future as a species, and ultimately a universal empire.

Now, I have to ask.. Do you believe that these 'things' would really be visiting us.. IF they could, how would we ever know? Why would they send manned spacecraft, it'd be too dangerous.. Who says we could even visibly see them, surely, their technology would allow for 'invisibility', right?

Now, I don't mean to sound crazy.. I'll explain WHY I'm asking these questions...

You see, I'm from Australia. On July the 10th on a Saturday morning at 5 am I went for a walk outside, it was pitch black out, and no cars around, nothing. However, when I went outside I noticed in the distance VERY distinct lights. I stared at them thinking it was just a helicopter or something, but, they were too far in the distance to make any recognizable conception of what it could be and/or was!

Now, I shrugged it off and I walked probably about 50 meters IF that.. Which is when I turned around and I noticed the "lights" traveling at a VERY fast speed. I kid you not, it was basically zooming across the sky. Maybe it was because it was dark, it made it look like it was going faster, but it certainly DIDN'T look like no commercial airplane, and besides, the airplanes don't travel over my area in that path (north), they come from the SOUTH!

I couldn't stop staring at it, I felt a sense of sort of terror, because of the speed of it and the distance it had traveled in a matter of SECONDS. It was like it was going super sonic, I SAW it fly over me before I heard it. I heard a massive roaring sound too.. Which, I guess could be attributed to a plane.. Now, I shrugged it off thinking it was just a plane and my imagination trying to 'make sense' of things, so I continued on my walk..

It wasn't until I got HOME at about 5:20ish am, that I went on news.com.au and I saw an article, front page of 'China shuts down airport, UFO sighted on radar' .. Now that got me thinking.. The Chinese saw the UFO at 9 pm on Friday july the 9th, which at that time it was 11 pm in Australia, I saw it SIX hours over my area. At the distance it was traveling, it COULD of traveled that far.. Now, I figured eh, it was nothing.. Probably again just my mind trying to make sense of things!

NOW! It wasn't until THIS morning in the HERALD SUN under TXT TALK on pg 39 that I realized what I saw was REAL and OTHER PEOPLE saw it too! They too saw what I saw, so, now here I am asking you people of yahoo answers.. Do you really think our intergalactic 'cousins' would be interested in us?
But wouldn't "watching" a youthful civilization be sort of interesting? Perhaps, they're searching for their origins, perhaps, we are 'reality tv' to them.

Think of when scientists watch animals, bugs, insects. It's all amazing, isn't it? Especially ants, building a colony..

UFO just means an object which the observer cannot identify. UFOs aren't necessarily alien spacecrafts.

If you intend to say alien spacecrafts (flying saucers or whatever they may appear as), SAY "ALIEN SPACECRAFTS"!

I don't know who told you that we are anywhere near intergalactic travel.
We are barely able to accomplish interplanetary travel. The furthest any manned spacecraft has been is to lunar orbit. Unmanned spacecrafts have visited a good tour of the solar system, and have invaded the cold desert Mars, but none of them have been planned to return to Earth.

Interstellar travel is what comes after interplanetary travel. Interstellar means exploring the stars all of which lie within our galaxy. Currently all spacecrafts in interstellar space are just "wild goose chases" having no particular destination.

Do remember: aliens do not have to travel intergalactically to get here. Interstellar might be sufficient. All the stars discovered with any exoplanets by humans are within our own galaxy, a 300 light year radius from the solar system.

Intergalactic travel is tremendously difficult and will likely never be accomplished. We can barely identify stars outside our own galaxy. Planets...never. It is difficult as it is to confirm exoplanets within our galaxy.

Interstellar or intergalactic...whatever alien spacecrafts may make the ginourmous journey. What might be their motives? You may think that they civilly just want to visit us and watch us. BUT, by the time they get here and come out of suspended annimation from the long travels, their civilization might no longer exist, so they would have to be coming here to stay.

That's right. They would be coming here to permanently live among us because their home planet might be out of resources.

As you have mentioned, we're a youthful civilization, and in my opinion, no other intelligent life that is capable of performing interstellar travel would be interested in wasting their time bothering with us.
