Potty Training?

I know parent goes through this but. How long did it take you parents to potty train your children? My daugher is 2 1/2 yrs old and i'm havin a tough time potty training her. My friends tell me to just give her time but shes already in a size 6 in diapers and i'm havin a tough time getting her to go on her potty, as i call it, her "big girl" potty. Did anyone else have this problem?

Even though she wears size 6 diapers, you have to see if she ready to be potty train.
Do not embarass her or show disappointment during the train. Try to build the co-operativeness with you.
Here are some tips. http://pottysuccess.blogspot.com

i have 4 boys.

my eldest we started at 3, finished in a month
my middle child started at 2 1/2 finished at 3.
my twins started at 2 1/2 finished at 3 1/2.

night time for all of them was around 5/6. though one of my twins is 6 and still wets.
its longer for boys though - their harder to train.

you cant potty train a child till their ready this is why they started a diffrent ages - once they started taking an intrest in the toilet and once they started to complain about having a wet nappy and where able to tell when they where about to go.

we stuck them in pull-ups and just got them to treat it like underwear, everytime they needed to go they told us we took them to the potty, soon as they went without telling us we took away the pull ups and gave them big boy pants, job done!! we of course gave them little rewards for going to the potty and for telling us. then at about 4 we introduced them to the big boys toilet.

night time we put them in pullups as well and got them up twice a night till they started doing it by themselves. once they where doing it by themselves we took away the pullups at night.

as you can see depending on the child it can take a month (ive hered it being done in a week) to over half a year. night time takes about a year as well but comes a year or two later.

Yes my youngest daughter didn't potty train easily. But like you have heard before when they are ready they will do it all easy. Give her the time she needs that is about all you can do.

Go to babycenter.com and look up toilet training readiness.signs. if she is not doing what they say, her body is not ready. It is all about muscle control not whether mom wants her to. Good luck. It will happen in a week when she is ready. Reward her too! Make a big deal about doing it! And never make her feel bad about accidents. She'll never go then.

I have a little girl who just turned 3 yesterday and she still has accidents. She is completely in big girl panties. But potty training is nothing less than a headache. It is tough for you and her, one thing that helped my daughter was getting her big girl panties, it made her feel like a big girl. Pooping on the potty was anther hassle with my daughter. I think we are finally getting her so that she likes to poop on the potty instead of her panties. Hang in there she will get it. Be patient, make sure it is fun for her and try not to reprimand her if she has an accident. She will get it, I know how frustrating it can be. Just be consistent. Good luck!!

My nephew is 3, and still wont use it by hisself. He learned from following me, my brother, and my sister in law in the bathroom. Even though he is a boy, he like to sit and pee, like his favorite aunt. They learn from watching. So let herwatch you, and make it fun. I tried the musicial potty on my nephew, and he loved it, because it played music as he used it. But he stills uses the diapers. Good luck, and be patience

Yes, I have 4 children and you really just need to wait until your little girl is ready. If you wait until she's ready, you won't have to try as hard and it should be very quick. I have a 2 1/2 year old son right now and he isn't quite ready. My daughter potty trained in just a couple of days because she was ready and I made a big deal of it. We bought a potty seat and she got Dora pullups and I took only her out for ice cream for the first couple of days that she went all day without having an accident.

My daughter was really quick and was dry day and night before she was 1 1/2 ( I used terrie nappies with her I don't know if this helped as they know when they are wet) my son was almost 3 (disposable nappies with him). He didn't like to use the potty so I bought a special step seat (an all in one seat with attached steps) it fits perfect on the toilet no holding them so they don't fall in. Helps them feel more independant. Just pick a time when you think your child is ready. Take her out shopping, let her pick her new pants, I used the same trick on my little boy as he loved Thomas the Tank engine. We put his pants on and suggested keep Thomas dry, it worked for him. But don't worry she will stay dry when she is ready, no child goes to school in nappies.
