What is the best sports I can put my son in to help him lose the weight?

My son is 14 and 50 lbs overweight. I am doing everything possible to help him and I thought a sports would also help. Which should he consider that will burn the most calories?

he should start with strength training cuz the more muscle u hav the more caleries u burn doing normal activities.Some sports he can do r swimming, track, soccer, basketball, maybe even a little gymnastics. He should also start eating really healthy and less. It would help if u try to get rid of most/all of the junk food in ur house.

Soccer for a sport, but get him a personal trainer so he can exercise and become more accountable.

Start feeding him a proper diet. You can't force him into a sport that he wont like. Get him involved in running, cycling, swimming, weight training, etc. Sports are too seasonal and being overweight that much at 14 chances are that he will be too discouraged to participate. He can't eat junk food and soda if you don't have it in the home.

I would say soccer, it is a workout. But thats the thing, he probably won't like it if he don't already play sports. I think that if you could get him interested in wrestling that would be great because they do work hard, they have fun doing it, it all up to him because it is his match so he wont have to worry about someone else and mainly they have weight goals! They have to be a certain weight to wrestle certain people, the less weight you are the easier it will be for him. I have a friend who was 315 pounds which is too high for any weight class. But he went to a practice, fell in love with the sport and lost 65 pounds in the first semester!

Weight training is an awesome class for ANYONE. I take it and LOVE it, he probably would too.

In an average soccer game a person can run 5 to 8 miles.
